2008

  • 10-year, large-scale contract secured with SouthStar Energy Services LLC in Atlanta, Georgia.

2007

  • Vertex named as the biggest mid-market private company in Britain, according the to The Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250 league table.
  • Sir Peter Gershon CBE, former CEO of the Office of Government Commerce appointed non-executive Chairman of Vertex investor board. 
  • Acquisition of Indianapolis-based IEI Financial Services LLC announced.
  • Vertex acquired from United Utilities PLC by a consortium of three leading US investment firms - Oak Hill Capital Partners, GenNx360 Capital Partners and Knox Lawrence International.
  • Vertex ranked No.1 energy & utility outsourcing provider in the Black Book of Outsourcing’s "Top 50 Best Managed Global Outsourcing Vendors" report.

2006

  • Acquisition of 1st Software Group Limited, who develop, market and support back office software for independent financial advisers.
  • Vertex ranked 22nd by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) in the first ever ranking of the world’s top outsourcing providers - The Global Outsourcing 100.

2005

  • Acquisition of Marlborough Stirling announced, the market leading provider of software and services to the financial services sector.
  • Vertex and IBM join forces to provide business transformation services to the North American energy and utility market, beginning with a $1.6bn contract with US multi-state energy company, NiSource.
  • 11,000 employees and 68 sites worldwide.
  • Vertex and Westminster Council strategic partnership awarded 'Best Outsource Relationship' at European Call Centre Awards 2005.

2004

  • Acquisition of US based debt collection agency First Revenue Assurance (FRA) announced.
  • Vertex & Westminster City Council awarded 'Best Business Process Outsourcing Deal at the first National Outsourcing Association (NOA) awards.
  • 15-year, £427m strategic partnership deal announced with Thurrock Council. 

2003

  • Vertex signs multi-million contract to provide a range of customer management services on behalf of telecommunications giant Orange.

2002

  • With a value of £422m, Vertex signs the largest public sector council service contract with Westminster.
  • Vertex established Indian contact centre capability through the acquisition of 7C and JV with GE Capital.

2001

  • Strategic alliance with Capgemini announced.
  • First contract outside of the UK won by Vertex – with Hydro One in Canada.
  • 8500 employees in total.

2000

  • Vertex wins the largest utility BPO contract in Europe – worth £650m over 7 years.
  • ISO 9002 accreditation achieved.
  • Turnover of £200m.

1999

  • Vertex awarded Investor in People.
  • 1200 employees transferred to vertex under 2nd generation TUPE.

1998

  • Vertex opens 1000 seat multi-client contact centre.
  • ISO 9000 accreditation achieved.

1997

  • 2500 employees and 5 sites in North West England.

1996

  • Norweb and North West Water merge to form United Utilities.  Vertex created with the objective of improving customer service and generating cost savings from non-core support services.
